The Bavarian Research Centre for Interreligious Discourse (BaFID) at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) organizes thematically oriented lecture series under the name “Bayerisches Interreligiöses Kolleg” (BIK). The first lecture in the summer semester of 2021 focused on the foundations of interreligious discourse. The topic in the summer semester of 2022 was “Ideas of Paradise in Judaism, Christianity and Islam” (Program). In the Summer Semester of 2023, the focus was on “Interreligious competence in educational work and the communication of values” (Program). The lecture series was recorded and is available on the BaFID YouTube channel.

Nine lecturers, who conduct research at FAU and the universities of Potsdam, Paderborn, Cologne, Tübingen, Heidelberg, and Munich, presented ideas of paradise from the perspective of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in the summer semester of 2022. The topic was also examined from an art historical, literary, cultural, and political perspective. The event was moderated by academics from FAU. The Erlangen Adult Education Centre was a cooperation partner. The lecture series (all topics in the press release) was recorded and is available in a separate playlist on the BaFID YouTube channel, as are previous BIK recordings. The BIK 2021 was rounded off with a final discussion on 13 July 2021, organized in cooperation with the Erlangen City Library as part of the “Erlangen Interreligious Talks”. The hybrid event can be viewed here.
