Educational Module: The “Religious Other” in Judaism, Christianity and Islam
How religions encounter each other characterizes not only interreligious coexistence but also the self-image of the community. Religions may perceive the “religious other” as foreign or familiar. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are related to each other, so individual ideas of the “other religion” are either adopted unchanged or reinterpreted in one’s own theological ideas.
Four lectures on this topic were held on relilab.org in October and November, given by (former) employees from various disciplines. The presentations offered fascinating insights and comprehensive analyses of key aspects of the topic.
The video recordings of the lectures, the accompanying presentation slides, and introductory texts have been compiled into a comprehensive educational module. This module is now available online and offers a structured opportunity to engage with the topic independently.
The topic is divided into four units:
- Unit: The interreligious-discursive approach using the example of Noach’s sons – PD. Dr. Chriatian Lange
- Unit: The perception of Christianity and Judaism from the perspective of Islam – PD Dr. Naghmeh Jahan
- Unit: The perception of Judaism and Islam from the standpoint of Christianity – Gerrit Mauritz, M.A.
- Unit: The perception of Christianity and Islam from the standpoint of Judaism – Dr. Nathanael Riemer
We cordially invite you to use the education module to expand your knowledge and gain new Stimuli for your work or studies.
