Date: 29. April 2025Time: 16:00 – 17:00Location: Jüdisches Museum Franken Königstraße 89 90762 Fürth

As part of the festival "Fürth Celebrates Diversity" (April 26 – May 11), Dr. Nathanael Riemer, a research associate specializing in Judaism at the Bavarian Research Center for Interreligious Discourses (BaFID), will give a lecture on the perception of the "religious other."

The lecture places perspectives from Jewish traditional literature into a hall of mirrors of the monotheistic religions. Such halls of mirrors present both opportunities and risks: they harbor the dangers of self-absorption and mere representation. However, they also offer the chance for critical self-reflection, revealing surprising insights that one might not have expected in the reflection.

The lecture, "The Perception of the 'Religious Other': Christianity and Judaism from the Perspective of Judaism," explores this topic from the Babylonian Exile through the rabbinic period and the Middle Ages up to the 19th century.
