The Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr)

The Night of Decree is one of the most important nights of the Islamic year, as on that night the revelation of the Quran began: "1 We sent it down on the Night of Decree." 2. How would you know what the Night of Decree is? 3. The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. 4. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. 5. Peace is she until the rising of the morning. 1 [Quran: Al-Qadr—The Night of Decree 97] The Night of Decree falls on the last ten odd nights of Ramadan. The believer is recommended to retreat to the mosque (iʿtikāf) during these ten days to devote themselves more to worship: ʿĀʾiša, the wife of the Prophet, reported: "The Messenger of God used to retreat [iʿtikāf] in the last ten days of Ramaḍān and would say: 'Seek the Night of Decree in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramaḍān.'" [reported by Bukhari] In some regions and communities, the 27th of Ramadan is usually designated as the Night of Destiny; however, there is no consensus on the exact date.
