Catharina Rachik, M.A.
Biography
Catharina Rachik studied Arabic and Islamic Studies as well as Modern and Contemporary History and Civil Law in Münster and Cairo. From 2014 to 2021, she worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Islamic Theology at Münster University, where she was active in research, teaching and as a coordinator. Her research focuses on the Quran and Quranic exegesis, and she is particularly interested in historical-critical Quranic research and interreligious issues in the Quran. She is also intensively involved in the art and cultural history of Islam. She wrote her dissertation on the topic of Moses in the Qur’an with a special focus on comparisons with Jewish and Christian sources. As a research assistant at BaFID, she is responsible for coordinating and editing the KCID volumes.
