Interreligious Aspects of Communicating Values in Current Public Discourses – Lecture series 2024/2025
Bavarian Interreligious Kolleg in the winter semester 2024/2025— Interreligious aspects of communicating values in current public discourses
The fourth Bavarian Interreligious College focused on the question of whether, and if so, to what extent, interreligious aspects play a role in the communication of values in current discourses. 10 academics investigated this question from various specialist perspectives. In addition to aspects of the challenge of the political and ideological neutrality of the state or questions of medical ethics in Islam, using the example of the question of the permissibility of organ donations, Prof. Dr. Klaus von Stosch presented the movement of believers on climate protection, ‘Faith united for the Planet.’ Nathanael Riemer explored the question of interfaith hospitality. Andreas Lehnhardt inquired about how the Jewish-rabbinic principle, which states that the law of the state is considered law, can change over time. Andreas Künz-Lübcke examined interreligious aspects in the legitimization of war and violence in the Hebrew Bible. Daniel Vorpahl presented transreligious perspectives on the biblical image of gender in the creation narratives. Admiel Kosman concluded by discussing the I and Thou principle in Martin Buber. The canceled lecture by Asma Maarufi will be held in the winter semester of 2025/2026.
